One of the continent’s best rappers, Nasty C, has reached another milestone for the Hip Hop industry.

The 24-year-old rapper from Folweni township in Durban has become the first Hip Hop artist in Mzansi to reach over 20 million album streams on Spotify with his second studio album Strings and Bling.

In April 2020, Nasty C became the first rapper in the country to sign with an international record label – Def Jam Recordings. This paved the way for other artists like Cassper Nyovest, Stogie T and LucasRaps who have all since signed recording deals with Def Jam Recordings Africa.

Released in July 2018 with 17 songs, Strings and Bling is Nasty C’s last album before he joined Def Jam Recordings.

Soon after signing the deal, he released a collaborative mixtape with the legendary DJ Whoo Kid called “Zulu” which features Hollywood’s respected actor, rapper and producer T.I.

The 11 track mixtape was soon followed by an album called Zulu Man With Some Power which resulted in Nasty doing interviews with some of the United States’ most influential TV and radio shows in August 2020.

The big news of breaking the 20 million mark came as an early birthday present for the rapper who will be turning 25 on Friday, 11 February.
