Mzansi can’t help falling in love with Zolile Sekeleni, the father of the disgraced Dr Nandipha Magudumana.
Thabo Bester’s ride-or-die woman was arrested with him in Tanzania after running from Mzansi on the passports of other people and fake identities, leaving unknown bodies and scandals behind her.
The highly publicised court case has given viewers access to the high profile case and the “made for Netflix” drama.
A surprising hero has emerged in Magudumana’s 65-year-old father. He can be seen comforting and guiding his baby girl even though it is one of the worst situations a daughter could get her father into.
Sekeleni is seen numerous times in court videos telling his daughter when to stand and when to sit, holding her arm in gentle support and even asking her numerous times if she is okay.
And if there’s one thing Mzansi loves it’s a loving father in against-all-odds hero mode.
Sekeleni was released from prison on R10,000 bail for his involvement in the escape of Thabo Bester from Mangaung prison in 2022.
Bester and Magudumana have been dubbed a latter-day Bonnie and Clyde. They were living it up after the escape, going on lavish vacations, shopping sprees and hosting VIP parties for fake companies.
With the lack of clarity around what actually happened, people are asking whether Dr Nandi is a victim of Bester, or a greedy villain who knew exactly what she was doing.
Pictures of the good doctor’s wedding day to her husband Mkhuseli Magudumana are doing rounds on social media.
Dr Magudumana is still using the surname despite claiming Bester had paid lobola for her.
The apparently genuine love the doctor received from her father in the short time they appeared together in the court has stood out. It appears that the father will do anything for his child — and still sees her as his little girl.
