The greatest hits of 2023: Scrolla.Africa is looking back at some of the best and most important stories of the year.

A little more than a month after the tragic murder of rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes, life without him has become harder to live for his partner, Nadia Nakai.

Taking to her Instagram timeline, Nadia penned a long heartfelt message expressing how experiencing the late rapper’s love has made it difficult for her to continue without him. AKA was shot and killed outside a Durban restaurant on 10 February.

“Sometimes I wish I never experienced your love. I wish that you were just an acquaintance and I could say ‘Oh Supa Mega passed away, what a loss for the game’.

“Now, because I have been loved by you, it’s just so hard. I have this hole in my heart that won’t let up.

“The world just doesn’t feel the same. I try to hold onto my memories of when I was happy before you. Maybe if I remember how it was before, I could be like that again,” she continued.

Supa Mega’s parents, Lynn and Tony Forbes, have continued supporting their late son’s lover.

Both Lynn and Tony took Instagram to appreciate the “Bragga” rapper, Nadia, for her continued love and respect for their son even after his passing.

“Nadia, from the first day that I met you I knew you were right for my boy. See that smile on his dial! Thank you for loving him, he loved you truly. We love you,” wrote Tony.

Lynn continued in the same fashion: “I am forever indebted to you for the way you love and respect my son to this day. You showed him what real love and respect is and you brought out the absolute best in him.”
