It is no secret that Durban born rapper Blxckie has been making major moves in the industry since he moved to Johannesburg. He has been featured every week with big artists while also releasing music on the side.
Now Blxckie has partnered with “Palm Trees” hitmaker Big Hash from Pretoria, and Cape Town’s very own gangster rapper Youngsta CPT who occasionally taps into Afrikaans with his classic rhymes.
They met in Johannesburg to breathe new life into the Hip Hop genre with a masterpiece single titled “Heavy is the Crown” which had a stunning visual premier six days ago on YouTube.
Even though the trio grew up and got groomed as rappers in different cities with very different cultures, every rapper brought the energy of their city into the song to make the “crown” heavier.
The Big Hash held down the first verse before going back to back with Blxckie who also sings between raps. Having been in the music industry the longest among the trio, Youngsta CPT kept the energy of the song, coming in on the last verse with his heavy Cape Town accent.
“The crown is where it belongs, I have been wearing it long,” raps Youngsta CPT.
The music video, which was shot on a rooftop of a building in the Johannesburg CBD by director Rey Rodriguez, has received close to 70,000 views on YouTube since it premiered on The Big Hash’s YouTube account on 21 October.
