Music boss admits he ‘ate’ producer’s payment for Hamba Juba

  • Sfiso Ndlovu told producer JL SA on his own podcast that he spent the money owed for producing Hamba Juba and never paid him.
  • JL broke down in tears during the interview, while fans online accused Sfiso of exploiting him and being unprofessional.

Music manager and label owner Sfiso Ndlovu admitted that he used money meant for producer JL SA, who created the hit song Hamba Juba.

JL revealed last month on TikTok that he was never paid for producing the track. “I produced the song from scratch; this is my work, but I never got a cent for it,” he said.

He was later invited to Piano Pulse, a podcast hosted by Sfiso. In the episode shared on Tuesday, JL broke down in tears after Sfiso admitted that he had spent the money.

“One day I’ll bring receipts to show he got paid… but that money is no longer there — I ate it,” Sfiso said.

In another interview, Sfiso claimed that singer Cici, who performed the vocals on the track, had taken him to court over extra royalties. He said the legal dispute caused delays in payments.

Sfiso also said he had deliberately withheld JL’s money to “teach him a lesson.”

“The reason I did not pay JL at the time was because I wanted to teach him a lesson. He broke the contract, and I know the law,” he said.

Clips from the podcast have gone viral, with many social media users accusing Sfiso of taking advantage of the young producer and handling the situation poorly.
