Broadcasting giants Multichoice Group and the Walt Disney Company in Africa have signed a three-year broadcasting rights deal.
The deal will see the continent glued into Disney family programmes until 2024.
Through this deal, Africans will continue to watch Disney programmes on their entertainment company DStv Now satellite television, which is owned by the Multichoice Group with Gotv as their second satellite television and the Showmax streaming platform.
“Partnering with a brand such as Disney means that we are able to continue to bring our audiences international content for people of all ages.
“Thanks to this contract renewal we will be able to bring the magic that is Disney into the homes of DStv subscribers everywhere,” said Gideon Khobane, Multichoice Group Executive for General Entertainment Content in a statement.
Meanwhile Disney Junior and Disney Channel on DStv have announced new programmes to start with the new contract term including shows like Mickey Mouse Funhouse and season 2 of Mira on Disney Junior. For Disney Channel, Viking Skool and Ghost Force will be among the new shows.
