A 33 year old father from Mthatha turned a difficult time during Covid into a business that now supports his family and others.
He started his mobile food business in 2020 after being sent home from work. His employer continued paying salaries for three months, and he used that money to begin.
He first sold food from home, taking orders and allowing customers to collect. Over time, he saved enough to buy a mobile kitchen.
Today, the business operates from Sidwadwa Drive in Mthatha. It has two delivery bikes that take food across town, while some customers still collect their orders.

He now employs five people, creating jobs in a town where many struggle to find work. He also runs a hiring business for tents, chairs and toilets, and plans to expand into livestock farming.
He says the idea of a mobile restaurant came from his time in the United States. That experience helped shape his vision.
His goal is to grow the business into a well known franchise from Mthatha. He hopes it will create more opportunities for young people.
The biggest challenge now is space. As demand grows, the kitchen is becoming too small, and he wants to expand and hire more staff.
He says starting was the most important step.
“Start where you are and with whatever you have,” he says.
