Pitso Mosimane wants Bafana Bafana to learn from one of the Springboks’ biggest strengths — having plenty of quality players ready to step in.
Mosimane wants to build the kind of squad depth that has helped Rassie Erasmus keep the Springboks competitive.
The Boks have several strong players fighting for many positions, allowing Erasmus to change his team without losing too much quality.
Mosimane wants Bafana to reach the same level.
“Sometimes we need to learn from the Bokke; they can play anybody,” he said, News24 reported.
“It doesn’t matter who plays.”
Mosimane said that shows how much talent the Springboks have developed and kept ready.
“We also need to have that culture in Bafana Bafana, and that’s what I believe in.”
The coach says giving younger players opportunities has always been part of his approach.
He pointed to giving Daine Klate a chance at SuperSport United when he was 17 and taking Cassius Mailula to preseason when he was 16.
“Talent must be stacked properly,” Mosimane said. “I want to make a revolution in South African football and not only with Bafana.”
Mosimane has inherited a national team that made major progress under former coach Hugo Broos.
He has kept many of the players from that period while also recalling some older faces and bringing younger players into the squad.
Mosimane said he is happy with the attitude he has seen since taking over.
His second spell as Bafana coach begins on Saturday when South Africa face Guinea in a 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at Orlando Stadium.
