Mokapana makes way for historic coronation

Former Generations actor Rantebeng Mokapana has decided to withdraw from his fight for the Bakgatla Ba Mosetla chieftaincy.

This comes after his cousin, Kgosi Nchaupe III, was crowned in a historic event that celebrated and revived Batswana culture in Mokapanstard (Moseta) in Hammanskraal.

In 2015, Mokapana found himself embroiled in a battle over the chieftaincy following the passing of his father, Motshegwa Hendrick Makapan, who was the chief at the time.

He was the rightful heir, but some headmen were envious and sought leadership themselves, as reported by Daily Sun.

Concerns were raised about how his acting career, portraying Morapedi on Muvhango, might have an impact on the perception of the throne.

Royal spokesperson Lencoe Makapan clarified in March that Motshegwa Hendrick Makapan, Rantebeng’s father, served as a regent after the passing of Kgosi Nchaupe II in the 1980s.

However, during the recent coronation, Mokapana stood united with his cousin Kgosi Nchaupe III and other members of the royal family, celebrating in harmony.

The coronation of Kgosi Nchaupe III was a moment of great joy in Makapanstad, as people from all walks of life came together to witness the long-awaited event.

The Bakgatla Ba Mosethla showcased their stunning traditional regalia, captivating all who attended the ceremony.

Kgosi Nchaupe III is described as someone with a grand vision for his community, actively contributing to development and education through his foundation.
