Mkhize and wife test positive for Covid

Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize and his wife May Mkhize have tested positive for Covid-19.

In a statement on Sunday night, Mkhize said he and his wife had been tested after he started showing mild symptoms.

“I was feeling abnormally exhausted and as the day progressed, I started losing appetite.”

Mkhize said his wife had a cough, and was dizzy and extremely exhausted.

“Given her symptoms, the doctors advised that she must be admitted for observation and rehydration.”

Mkhize is now in quarantine.

His contacts during the past week, including family members and colleagues at the health ministry, are being tested and isolated.

He urged South Africans to continue wearing masks, social distancing and sanitizing hands.
