- Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla and former MK Party spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela were expelled with immediate effect for bringing the party into disrepute.
- MK MP Edward Mzikayise Ntshingila, 43, died on 4 June 2026 after a prolonged illness.
The MK Party has expelled Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla and former party spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela after the two moved a dying MP between hospitals without telling his family or party leadership.
The expulsions were announced by MK Party secretary-general Sibonelo Nomvalo at a media briefing in Johannesburg on Thursday. He said their membership was terminated with immediate effect.
“Their membership has been terminated with immediate effect,” Nomvalo said.
The MP at the centre of the matter is Edward Mzikayise Ntshingila, who served in the National Assembly for the MK Party. Ntshingila was 43 years old. He died on 4 June 2026 after a prolonged illness.
Nomvalo said Zuma-Sambudla and Ndhlela moved Ntshingila from one hospital to another while he was ill. The family was not told. Party leadership was not told either.
The MK Party said the pair were not adhering to the rules and laws of the party. That is what triggered the expulsion.
Ntshingila’s death was followed by reports of disputes over his funeral arrangements. The ceremony took place in Johannesburg and was attended by prominent political figures. Parliament acknowledged his service after his passing.
Zuma-Sambudla is the daughter of former president Jacob Zuma. She had been a visible figure in the MK Party since its formation.
