A warehouse was destroyed when it caught fire in Glen Austin, Midrand on Tuesday morning.
City of Joburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) spokesperson Nana Radebe-Kgiba said officials received a call about the blaze just after 7.30am.
“Three fire engines are on scene, and the fire has been contained so it doesn’t spread to other buildings,” she said.
Everyone was evacuated from the warehouse, and no casualties were reported.
She said preliminary investigations would be conducted to determine the cause of the fire.
The fire came 24 hours after a fire ravaged the China Mart in Joburg.
Radebe-Kgiba emphasised the importance of using heating appliances correctly, especially during winter when EMS records increased structural fires and many deaths caused by incorrect use.
As the temperatures continue to plummet, residents are urged to stay informed, use heating appliances correctly, and never leave heaters and stoves unattended.
