  • Khoza says Duma Ndlovu still owes him for songs he wrote for the drama Umkhokha: The Curse, which ended in February.
  • The singer says years of battling depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts pushed him to launch a mental health organisation.

Singer and actor Mbuso Khoza says TV producer Duma Ndlovu owes him money, and he wants it paid.

Khoza worked on Mzansi Magic’s hit faith-based drama Umkhokha: The Curse, which ended earlier this year. He acted in the show and also wrote songs for it.

In a Facebook post, he wrote: “Please take my call regarding the money you owe me on Umkhokha from 2021 until the last season. I composed many songs for the show. Please awube wumuntu [please be a human being].”

Ndlovu was the executive producer of the show. He is also known as the creator of Muvhango, which was recently cancelled.

When The Citizen contacted Khoza about the matter, he said he was not ready to talk about it as he was focused on a new project. Ndlovu did not respond to questions.

That new project is deeply personal.

In another Facebook post, Khoza opened up about living with anxiety, depression, ADHD and suicidal thoughts for many years.

He said he was inspired by young people who face similar struggles to start an organisation that will focus on mental health awareness and support.

“After so many years of struggling … I’ve been encouraged to come up with a mental wellness organisation,” he wrote.

He said the organisation will support people living with mental illness and raise awareness to help save lives.
