Deputy President Paul Mashatile and his wife, Humile, voted in Kelvin, Sandton, on Wednesday morning.
Mashatile said he was confident that the country’s voting process would be smooth.
Soon after arriving, he greeted party agents at the voting station before checking his name on the voter’s roll.
His and his wife’s names were both confirmed, and he walked into St Johannes Lutheran Church, where, with a delighted smile, he made his mark on all three ballots.
Mashatile said he was happy that most voting stations in the country were open.
“I am told that more than 23,000 voting stations are open. I am happy that there is a lot of excitement on the ground. People are coming out in numbers to vote.”
Soon after voting, Mashatile drove off in his VIP convoy.
