- A 51-year-old man was arrested for repeatedly raping an 11-year-old girl in exchange for food from 2021 to 2023.
- The victim’s aunt allegedly ignored reports and continued sending the child to the suspect despite knowing about the sexual abuse.
A 51-year-old man has been arrested for repeatedly raping an 11-year-old girl in return for food in Makgofe outside Seshego, Limpopo.
It is reported that the victim was staying with her aunt during the time of the crime, which happened from 2021 until 2023.
The aunt allegedly sent her to the suspect’s place to go and ask for food without giving her money.
He then took advantage and raped the victim in return for the food.
The victim reported the ordeal to her aunt, who unfortunately turned a blind eye to the incident and kept quiet.
The aunt continued sending the victim to the suspect, who continued to rape the child in return for the food.
In January 2024, the family members received a tip-off about a rape incident and then reported the matter to the Police in Seshego in March 2024.
A case of rape was opened in March 2024.
On Wednesday 6 August 2025, Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit received information about a rape case.
The investigation led to the arrest of a 51-year-old man. He is expected to appear before the Seshego Magistrate’s Court soon for rape.
