- MaMkhize says Ian Cameron’s apology in Parliament is not enough after wrongly linking her to a controversial businessman.
- She says the public forgets she’s also a mother and grandmother, and that false claims hurt the people who look up to her.
Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize has spoken out after months of public attacks and rumours, saying she’s tired of being treated like she has no feelings.
The businesswoman and football club boss was hit hard in November 2024 when the South African Revenue Service raided her properties over unpaid taxes. Her soccer team, Royal AM, was later auctioned off to help pay what is believed to be a R40 million debt.
Then, during a recent meeting in Parliament, activist Ian Cameron wrongly linked her name to controversial businessman Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala. Although Cameron later apologised, MaMkhize says it wasn’t enough.
Speaking to Robert Marawa on 947, MaMkhize said: “He did it for attention. He must clear my name properly.”
She said she’s not made of stone and is hurt by the things said about her.
“I may look strong, but I also have feelings,” she said. “I’m a mother, a grandmother, and people look up to me.”
MaMkhize said she’s worked hard to help others and create jobs, and that careless public statements do damage far beyond her own life.
“When people say bad things about me, it doesn’t just hurt me, it hurts others too,” she said.
She also asked people to be more responsible before speaking publicly and to show more kindness.
“Before you talk about me, check your facts. I’m human too.”
