Limpopo singing sensation Makhadzi is opening doors for students who can’t pay their university fees.
The star, whose real name is Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona from Madombidzha Village outside Elim, will pay registration fees for 20 students starting university in 2025.
She took to social media on Thursday, asking students to send her proof that they’ve been accepted to study, along with their stories of money troubles.
The response was huge – more than 5,000 students asked for help in just 24 hours.
Speaking to The Citizen, Makhadzi said she was shocked by how many students needed help.
She said helping students means a lot to her because she knows how hard it is for many to afford university.
“Many students face difficulties with financial aid for registration, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds,” she said.
“I’ve witnessed these struggles firsthand, and I understand the importance of education as a tool for change. Many bright students are held back by financial barriers.”
Last year, Makhadzi and her foundation went to seven Limpopo schools to give out school shoes and food parcels.
This year, she wants to help university students because she believes everyone should have a chance to learn.
She won’t just give money – she also wants to guide these students through their studies.
Last month, she held a sold-out music concert at Polokwane’s Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Makhadzi hopes other people will see what she’s doing and also help students so they can focus on learning instead of worrying about money.
