- MacG has apologised after he was slammed for making rude comments about Minnie Dlamini on his podcast.
- Some say the apology is not enough and want media to stop allowing sexist and harmful content.
Podcast host Macgyver “MacG” Mukwevho has apologised to Minnie Dlamini after being slammed for making rude and hurtful comments about her on his show.
MacG made fun of Dlamini’s hygiene while discussing her split from plastic surgeon Dr Brian Monaisa. He also questioned why she “can’t keep a man”.
Many people said he went too far and that what he said was disrespectful and offensive.
The group Women For Change was one of many to call him out. They said: “Women For Change is deeply disturbed by the misogynistic and degrading remarks made by MacG on his podcast regarding Minnie Dlamini.”
They also said his show often spreads harmful messages about women.
“His podcast consistently spreads sexual innuendos, encourages victim-blaming and perpetuates blatant misogyny. It contributes to a culture that sees women as objects, mocks their pain, and reinforces patriarchal values, all while reaching millions of listeners.”
After the backlash, MacG came forward and apologised to Dlamini. But some people feel that just saying sorry is not enough.
More and more voices are calling for podcasts and media to be more responsible about what they say, especially when it comes to women.
