- MacG, who played a Qwabe tribe member, said he felt “blessed and grateful” but admitted controversy is never far from Podcast and Chill.
- His co-host Sol Phenduka confirmed he was suspended by Kaya FM because of Minnie Dlamini’s R2.5-million lawsuit against the pair.
MacG’s face flashed on screens during a Shaka iLembe episode when he appeared briefly as a Qwabe tribe member backing King Phakathwayo in a stick fight with Shaka Zulu.
He described it as a dream come true. “It was one of those things on my bucket list,” he said.
But the cameo comes at a tense time. Minnie Dlamini is suing MacG and Sol Phenduka for R2.5 million, accusing them of harassment and hate speech. Asked about the case, MacG replied simply: “No comment.”
Phenduka confirmed on the podcast that he had been suspended for seven days from Kaya FM over the lawsuit.
“You know what it’s about; it’s about the court case with Minnie. I did nothing,” he said, insisting he had been unfairly treated.
He also said he was shocked when the radio station released a statement about his suspension despite asking him to keep quiet.
“They were like, ‘Don’t talk about it,’ and they dropped the statement. So now I’m like, ‘Guys, I’m doing a podcast; I’ll get asked.’”
MacG, who tried to keep the mood light, said: “Our podcast is always in hot water.” He even joked that the chaos may be linked to Kaya FM’s new management after United Stations bought the station, Citizen reported.
