‘Leave my womb alone’ – Liesl Laurie

By Rorisang Modiba

Liesl Laurie has asked people to stop focusing on whether she’s pregnant or not.

Laurie, known for her reign as Miss South Africa in 2015, heard rumours on social media that she might be expecting a baby, This comes almost a year after she married Dr Musa Mthombeni.

On Monday she revealed in an Instagram post that she wasn’t pregnant and voiced her frustration with the unwanted attention on her and other women’s bodies.

“Leave my womb alone. Leave other women’s wombs alone. Whether I am or not (and let’s be clear, I am not) I feel like you guys want to be seen,” she said.

“This culture of wanting to be seen first – you guys need to stop it. When women are ready to tell you whether or not they want to procreate, whether or not they are pregnant, or whether or not they are expecting, they will do so in their own time,” she said.

“You guys are honestly and truly starting to piss me off. I am really, really tired of this happening on my posts and on other women’s posts.”
