The KZN Government has fired King Misuzulu KaZwelithini’s senior advisor and praise singer Buzetsheni Mdletshe.

He famously challenged ANC provincial chairperson Siboniso Duma when he grabbed the microphone from Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi, the traditional prime minister to the Zulu Monarch.

A one-page letter dated 18 April 2024 was sent to Mdletshe to inform him of his contract’s termination.

The letter, which has been seen by Scrolla.Africa, states that Mdletshe’s contract has been terminated with effect from 30 April 2024.

The letter was sent by the office of the Premier’s chief director LT Mbambo.

“As you may be aware, the office of the Premier, like all other government departments and entities, has experienced substantial budget cuts. As a result, the office of the Premier inevitably had to review its spending… and operational plans, as well as all agreements and contracts that were concluded with private entities,” the letter reads.

It further said the Mavukefile Pty Ltd contract has been invoked.

Mavukefile Pty Ltd is the company used by Mdletshe to receive his salary as the King’s praise singer.

Mdletshe told Scrolla.Africa that he received the letter on Friday 19 April.

He suspects that his stance during the microphone grabbing incident, when he refused Duma’s instructions to take over the Prime Minister’s role to introduce King Misuzulu, might be the reason behind the termination of his contract.

When he refused, Duma told him that government is bigger than the Zulu Kingdom.

“I think I also angered Premier Nomusa MaDube-Ncube when I stood up at KwaCeza and corrected her about her misinterpretation of King Dinuzulu’s history, which she shared on uKhozi FM a day before the incident,” said Mdletshe.
