Ulundi: The Zulu royal family is mourning the passing of the daughter of King Solomon kaDinuzulu.
Princess Henrietta Ntombibomvu Sithulu kaSolomon kaDinuzulu kaCetshwayo kaMpande passed away on Tuesday at Nkonjeni Hospital in Ulundi.
She was 102 years of age, which made her the oldest royal family member.
Her father, King Solomon kaDinuzulu, had 58 wives, and she was the youngest daughter. She got married in 1949.
uMsinga: The KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi, has expressed grave concern over the escalating number of attacks and murders targeting municipal workers across the province.
The MEC’s statement follows a series of tragic events, including the murder of Mr Khalesakhe Mchunu, a municipal worker from uMsinga Local Municipality, who was killed yesterday in oFabeni in uMsinga.
This incident is one of several that have occurred in just the past 30 days. On 27 June, 32-year-old Nokulunga Mashabane was found with a gunshot wound in KwaDukuza. Just days later, on 3 July, an official from the eThekwini Metro was killed, and others injured, when unknown gunmen opened fire on their vehicle.
Pietermaritzburg: The DA is taking the City of eThekwini Municipality to court, accusing the municipality of its failure to manage the sewage crisis.
The party will hold a protest outside the Pietermaritzburg High Court on Thursday and Friday, led by the Provincial Leader, Francois Rodgers MPL; Provincial Chairperson, Dean Macpherson MP; and DA eThekwini Caucus Leader and Councillor Thabani Mthethwa.
