Ulundi – The family of former uZalo star Gugu Gumede, who played maMlambo, says reports of her death are completely false. Social media was filled with claims on Wednesday that she had collapsed and died outside a restaurant in uMhlanga, Durban. Family spokesperson Siphamandla Ntombela blamed jealous people for spreading lies. “She just had surgery to reshape her body which has made her the most beautiful girl on earth. She is well and alive and has never been sick,” Ntombela said.
Pietermaritzburg – The KZN government has asked national treasury for a R2.4 billion loan to protect Ithala Bank customers’ money until the bank gets a proper licence. KZN Treasury says Ithala’s 257,000 customers haven’t been able to use their accounts since January. This happened after the South African Reserve Bank tried to shut down Ithala, claiming it was broke and breaking banking laws.
Umzinyathi District – The IFP has removed its veteran Mayor Bishop Mthandeni Petros Ngubane from leading Umzinyathi District, which includes Nquthu, Msinga, uMvoti and Ndumeni. The party announced on Wednesday that its top leaders met with Ngubane on Sunday to look at service delivery problems. “After talks and careful thinking, the officials all agreed the leadership needed to change. On Monday, the IFP’s national leaders accepted this decision,” the party said.
