Celani Sikhakhane brings you KwaZulu-Natal’s latest news.
Inanda: The SACP interim leadership in KZN snubbed the ANC Freedom Day rally that was held in Inanda, where the first democratic President Nelson Mandela voted on 27 April 1994. Instead the event was attended by the disbanded leadership of the SACP led by the Moses Mabhida Province (KZN) former Secretary Themba Mthembu. This comes after the SACP took a decision to contest the upcoming Local Government Elections against the ANC. This decision led to ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula to write letters to all members of the Alliance to choose between the SACP and the ANC. The SACP leadership have not taken this decision lightly. They now accuse the ANC of bullying.
Ladysmith: Police officers who are members of the Combat Rifle Teams were given an opportunity to sharpen their shooting skills against their peers at a Combat Rifle shooting event at the Wagonhill Shooting Range in Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal midlands. The two-day high-adrenaline rifle sport started on Friday and ran to Saturday. Police officers from various provinces such as KZN, Gauteng, Eastern Cape, Northern Cape, North West and the Free State were competing for the sharp shooter title. Police officers had stiff competition from members of the South African National Defence Force who were also showing off their shooting skills. Civilians who are members of Combat Rifle teams were also throwing the spanner in the works.
