uMsinga: The EFF in uMsinga, in the KZN Midlands, have stormed the local police station as they fight for justice in the rape case of a 2-year-old toddler.
The case was opened last month, but the family members of the child have raised concerns about the slow pace of the investigation and the arrest of the suspect.
EFF councillor Sthakaselo Zondi said that they had to stage a protest at the uMsinga Police Station because they want justice for the toddler.
“Her family from Machunini village told us that they have been waiting for justice to prevail since last month after they reported the matter to the police, but nothing has happened,” said Zondi.
The detectives at uMsinga SAPS said that they have opened an inquest and are waiting for the results of the DNA.
INgwavuma: The Inkatha Freedom Party will wrap up their 50-year milestone celebration of the formation of the party next month in Ingwavuma.
The party announced on Friday that the event will be addressed by their President, Velenkosini Hlabisa, on the 13th of December at eMagugu Sports Ground in the Far North of KZN, near the South African–eSwatini border.
Ingwavuma is historically important to the IFP, as the founding president of the party, Dr Mangosuthu Buthelezi, fought against the apartheid government in the Pretoria High Court to cede that part of KZN tourism to eSwatini, which was formerly known as kaNgwane.
The party started the 50-year celebration in March this year at kwaNzimela in Melmoth, where the party was formed in 1975.
Madadeni: The National Prosecuting Authority is reviving the Madadeni TCC in the north-west of KwaZulu-Natal, in Newcastle.
The centre, which is located at Madadeni Provincial Hospital, was first established in 2015 and serves the broader Amajuba District.
The NPA says the relaunch celebrates the opening of a new, purpose-built facility donated by the FirstRand Empowerment Foundation Trust, replacing the previous temporary structure.
It says this enhanced facility will strengthen survivor-centred service delivery, improve coordination among partners, and reaffirm the NPA’s commitment to the National Strategic Plan on GBVF.
