Nkandla: The uMkhonto weSizwe Party has invited the ANC to a meeting to discuss a possible coalition to govern the province of KwaZulu-Natal. The second Deputy President of the party Tony Yengeni told the ANC in a letter that they have met with the NFP and EFF to discuss the formation of a new government in KZN. He said that as MK Party they want to build a stable government as they continue with negotiations for the formation of the new coalition government. The MK Party has made serious attempts to negotiate with other political parties as they want to form a new coalition government. They have even cast a motion of a vote of no confidence against the current Premier Thami Ntuli without any success. The meeting is set to take place on 7 March 2026.
eThekwini: The DA mayoral candidate in the City of eThekwini, Hannif Hoosen, has written to President Cyril Ramaphosa challenging him to unveil new infrastructure that will deliver water and sewers to the people of eThekwini. “I have written to President Cyril Ramaphosa, challenging him to use his visit to eThekwini to unveil new and desperately needed service delivery infrastructure that delivers water and sewers to the people of eThekwini, rather than unveiling statues. eThekwini Municipality has announced that during his upcoming visit to the city on 3 March 2026, President Ramaphosa will unveil two statues that cost ratepayers R22-million to be erected,” said Hoosen.
Port Shepstone: Police in KwaZulu-Natal arrested four suspects aged between 21 and 38 years in Durban for a case of kidnapping. This after a family in Paddock reported a kidnapping of their 38-year-old family member to the police on Sunday. Police officers who are members of the Counter Narcotics Unit and Provincial Organised Crime Threat Desk received information that the suspects were inside one of the retail shops on St George’s Street in Durban. The team summoned the assistance of the Durban Central Crime Prevention who were in close proximity of the suspects’ location to corner them before they could get away. The three suspects were successfully arrested. Police searched their vehicle and recovered two of the victim’s bank cards as well as a cellphone sim card. Further investigations led police to Mayville where the victim was found alive and they also arrested the fourth suspect. The arrested suspects were detained and charged for kidnapping. They will appear at the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
