Nongoma – King Misuzulu kaZwelithini is back on duty after spending two months in traditional seclusion. He ended his time away with the ancient uMkhosi woSelwa ceremony, which happened before celebrating the battle of Isandlwana where Zulus beat British troops in 1879. Women and journalists couldn’t watch as the King burned ritual sticks after Zulu warriors killed a bull with their hands. The seclusion forced him to cancel his wedding and delay important matters like Ithala Bank, choosing a new Prime Minister and Ingonyama Trust issues.
Umhlanga – Famous American rapper Rick Ross will perform in Durban. Organisers announced in Umhlanga on Thursday that local artists will also get a chance to shine. The show is in May, but tickets go on sale from 14 February.
Inanda – Police killed three suspects in a shootout at Bhambayi, Inanda, on Saturday. They were allegedly performing rituals to kill people in revenge for the death of their West Gang leader, Mnqobi “Number 10” Nzimande, 22, who was killed by police’s special unit. Police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said they found the suspects while looking for people wanted for murders in Inanda and Umlazi.
