Nongoma: The Zulu King’s rebel uncle has failed yet again in his bid to dethrone His Majesty King Misuzulu kaZwelithini. Constitutional Court Chief Justice Mandisa Maya told Prince Mbonisi Zulu of eKhwezi Royal House and 23 others on Wednesday that the bench had refused their application for leave to file a replying affidavit and a rescission, with costs. Prince Mbonisi was unhappy with the Constitutional Court judgment delivered earlier this year confirming King Misuzulu kaZwelithini as the rightful heir to the throne. The rebel uncle is now fighting for Prince Buzabazi kaZwelithini, son of King Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu and Queen Buhle kaMathe of kwaDlamahlahla Royal Palace, to take the throne from his half-brother. Prince Buzabazi is Prince Mbonisi’s third choice after he abandoned Prince Simakade kaZwelithini and Prince Nhlendla kaZwelithini, son of King Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu’s sixth wife, Queen Zesuliwe laMafu of Ondini Palace. The ruling means Prince Mbonisi has now exhausted every court in South Africa in his bid to dethrone King Misuzulu kaZwelithini.
Port Shepstone: The National Prosecuting Authority has welcomed the sentencing of Mpumelelo Tiger Shusha (45) to 23 years direct imprisonment by the Port Shepstone Regional Court. Shusha pleaded guilty to housebreaking with intent to rob and robbery with aggravating circumstances, committed in Port Edward in November 2023. Evidence before the court revealed that on 24 November 2023, Shusha and two accomplices unlawfully entered the home of a 75-year-old man while he was asleep. Armed with a bush knife and other weapons, they assaulted him and robbed him of personal belongings valued at more than R38 000 before fleeing. Prosecutor Nkululeko Saziso Dlamini submitted that the offences were serious and prevalent in the area, and handed in a medical report detailing the injuries sustained by the complainant.
Ulundi: The IFP and the Mthimkhulu family have announced that the late IFP PR Councillor in the Rand West City Local Municipality, Cllr Mbuso Mzwandile Mthimkhulu, will be laid to rest in Newlands, Ulundi, north of KZN, on Sunday, 7 June 2026. Mthimkhulu (46) was tragically shot and killed following a community meeting in Bekkersdal last week. The IFP said he was elected in 2021 and served his community with dedication, humility and integrity. The party extended its sincere gratitude to South Africans for the messages of support, condolences and prayers received during this difficult time.
