Mashobeni Royal Palace: The son of the late Zulu Prime Minister, Inkosi Zuzifa Buthelezi, has performed the sacred Ukuthela Amanzi ritual following the passing of his father, Inkosi Mangosuthu Buthelezi.
Prince Zuzifa was among traditional leaders who performed the ritual on Tuesday afternoon at a ceremony attended by 3 000 people.
“The preservation of our cultural practices anchors the identity of the Zulu Nation. We thank Amakhosi, their families, and communities for supporting our traditional institutions,” said His Majesty King Misuzulu kaZwelithini.
Durban: Police in Durban Central have opened an inquest docket after a foreign national was found dead, allegedly after jumping from the eighth floor of a building on Margaret Mncadi Avenue on Monday night.
Reports indicate that three foreign nationals had broken into a storage facility and were staying there for three days. On Monday night, they reportedly heard noises and feared they were being targeted. One jumped from the eighth floor, sustained broken limbs and was declared dead at the scene. A second ran away while the third remained at the scene.
Marianhill: A murder suspect was shot and fatally wounded in a shootout with police in Mariannhill in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Police received intelligence about the whereabouts of the suspect, who was linked to two murders allegedly committed in the Mpumalanga township of Hammersdale in December 2021 and June 2026. When police arrived at his hideout in the Luganda area, a shootout ensued and the suspect was fatally wounded. No police officers were injured.
