uMlazi: The ANCWL in eThekwini Region celebrated women’s month by distributing new shoes to school children from different schools in uMlazi, south of Durban. The event which took place on Sunday saw many young pupils receiving gifts of shoes as the ANCWL tried to revive the dominance of the ANC in the eThekwini Region. This comes after the ANC lost power in the region during the 2024 general elections. The event was attended by former KZN MEC for Public Works Dr Ntuthuko Mahlaba and members of the eThekwini Regional Task Team.
Zululand: In the early hours of Sunday morning, police in KwaZulu-Natal arrested a 42-year-old suspect in KwaNongoma for being in possession of four unlicensed firearms and ammunition. Police officers from Zululand District Task Team and Crime Intelligence had received credible information on an individual at Gwabe area in KwaNongoma who had unlicensed firearms. The suspect was found inside the house and when members conducted a search, they found a 303 rifle with a scope attached, an AK47 assault rifle, an Uzzi as well as a 9mm pistol. The firearms were found under the mattress of the bed he was sleeping on. The suspect could not produce a licence for any of the firearms found in his house.
Impendle: The DA has described the visit of the Human Settlements Minister to the 2022 flood victims as unacceptably delayed. “While the DA welcomes these long-overdue interventions, the response by the national Human Settlements Minister has been unacceptably delayed. For her to only come to KZN now – to ‘introduce a contractor’ and hand over a small number of houses – is a massive failure of leadership and governance,” the DA said.
