The man who brought us the smash hit “Ebumnandini” is fighting for his life in hospital.
Victor Bogopane, better known as Doc Shebeleza, has been taken to intensive care at a Johannesburg hospital.
A music industry friend told Zimoja that although Shebeleza has had health problems before, they have never been this serious.
“We believe he will get better as he is getting the best medical care,” said the friend.
A worried family member asked South Africans to pray for the Kwaito legend.
“We just need prayers for a speedy recovery. We will keep everyone posted on the progress of his health, and we just don’t want to say too much at this stage. We will release an official statement,” they said.
Shebeleza became a household name in the 1990s, releasing hit after hit, including “Kumnandi Lana.” His album S’kumfete made him a superstar.
Even young artists look up to him. In 2014, hip-hop star Cassper Nyovest named a song after him.
