- Springbok captain Siya Kolisi has wished former South African swimmer Princess Charlene a happy birthday on social media.
- Princess Charlene, who now leads Monaco’s rugby, turned 47 and was given a special gift by the rugby star.
Springbok captain Siya Kolisi has sent birthday wishes to Princess Charlene of Monaco, who now heads that country’s rugby union.
Kolisi posted pictures on Instagram showing him giving a gift to the smiling princess, who turned 47. The general manager of Monaco Rugby, Yannick Nyanga, was also present.
Before she became a princess, Charlene Wittstock flew South Africa’s flag high in swimming.
She came sixth in the 200-metre backstroke at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney.
She also swam for South Africa at the Commonwealth Games in 1998 and 2002. A shoulder injury later ended her dreams of making the 2008 Olympics.
Charlene met Prince Albert II at a swimming event in Monaco in 2000. They fell in love and got married in July 2011, making her the Princess of Monaco.
The princess now leads Monaco’s rugby as president of their rugby federation, which made Kolisi happy.
Some fans had strong views about Kolisi’s post, which came after news of his split from his wife, Rachel.
“Something is off,” one person wrote in the comments.
“Did anyone else get the fright of their lives?” another said.
