King Misuzulu kaZwelithini is set to take a third wife, Nomzamo Myeni.
Scrolla.Africa has learned that Myeni and the King have been romantically linked for some time. Sources said they met while Myeni worked at Nedbank in Jozini in KwaZulu-Natal.
“She later resigned from Nedbank and worked at the private office of the King. So they have been together for over two years if I am not mistaken,” a source said.
The King’s Prime Minister, the Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi, made the announcement during a meeting at the kwaKhangelamankengane royal palace in Nongoma on Tuesday.
“Your Highnesses, the King has found the beautiful rose in the royal family of Myeni in Jozini. He has instructed me to request all the royal family members to accompany him to pay lobola to the Myenis on the 5th of May 2024,” said Buthelezi.
The news comes as King Misuzulu has broken up with his estranged second wife, Queen Nozizwe Mulela.
Tension between the pair was noticed in public, as the King would only greet and acknowledge the presence of his first wife, Queen Ntokozo kaMayisela-Zulu.
His behaviour led Zulu senior royals to report the matter to the King’s uncle, King Mswati III of Eswatini, for his intervention, but all attempts failed.
Queen Mulela had to go back to Eswatini after her attempt to fix her marriage with the King failed.
Sources revealed that she came unannounced to the KwaNkomonye royal palace in Ulundi, but the King refused to see her and asked her to return to Eswatini.
On Tuesday, after the lobola announcement, the King led a delegation of traditional leaders to perform a sod-turning ceremony for his new palace that is going to be built in Nongoma.
