King Misuzulu kaZwelithini is taking a second wife from ESwatini and the lobola negotiations are already underway.
On Sunday the Zulu royal family officially welcomed Lihle Makhubo to the Khangelamankengane palace in Nkunzana area in Nongoma from ESwatini.
KaMakhubo was accompanied by her family and maidens.
She arrived in the country on Saturday and attended the church service which was held at the Palace by the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Scrolla.Africa understands that Queen kaMayisela, the first wife who was supposed to take part in the church service, boycotted the event and decided to go home after she was told on her way to the palace that the incoming second queen was also in attendance.
KaMakhubo has been dating King Misuzulu KaZwelithini for years and is reported to be from one of the richest families in Eswatini.
She also holds an executive position in the banking sector.
During the welcoming ceremony, Makhubo was sprinkled with gall from a goat’s gallbladder as a sign of welcoming her to the royal family.
“We will be heading to ESwatini in the next few weeks to pay lobola to the Makhubo family. We are also preparing for the umembeso, the gift ceremony to the king’s first wife Queen Ntokozo Mayisela in Newcastle,” one of the king’s closest confidants said.
He said there are also three wives that the king will be marrying.
According to the confidant, all the wives will revive the Palace of kwaNodwengu, King Shaka’s palace in kwaDukuza.
In the first week of December, Misuzulu will be taken to a kraal as part of his official inauguration and his uncle King Makhosetive Mswati will be part of that ritual.
Princess Thembi Zulu Ndlovu told Scrolla.Africa that she didn’t attend either the church service or welcoming ceremony because she was not invited even though she knew about it.
