- Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi gave the royal family the King’s firm order during a funeral at a Nongoma palace on Saturday.
- The divided family must unite before July to unveil the giant statue of the late King at a church service.
King Misuzulu kaZwelithini has ordered the divided Zulu royal family to shut down their divisions and pull together.
He warned that their cracks make the monarch weak instead of strong enough to lead the Zulu nation.
The King is blocking the unveiling of a giant statue of his late father, King Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu, until the family unites.
Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi delivered this strict warning on behalf of the King on Saturday.
He addressed the family at the funeral of the King’s driver, Prince Muziwoxolo kaFalakhe kaMphengula kaSolomon kaDinuzulu.
The funeral took place at the Mkhethothandayo Royal Palace in Nongoma.
Buthelezi told the family that the King is worried about their divisions.
“His Majesty is calling for all of you to come closer to him and work together to thrive this nation,” Buthelezi said.
He told them the King wants a united royal family before they finally unveil the giant statue in July.
The family will reveal the statue during a special church service to mark the late King’s birthday.
Buthelezi said the late King actually asked for this church service before he died.
During his 2019 birthday visit to London, King Zwelithini made a special request at Westminster Abbey’s Church of England.
He asked that his future birthdays must be marked with a church service.
The royal family will now honour that wish when they show the giant statue this year.
