- King Misuzulu spoke at the official opening of the House of Traditional and Khoi San Leadership in Ulundi on Thursday.
- King Misuzulu said a man who claimed to be his mother’s first born child took the throne dispute to court.
King Misuzulu kaZwelithini hit out at people who fight for the Zulu throne while knowing they have no rightful claim to it.
The King was speaking on Thursday at the official opening of the House of Traditional and Khoi San Leadership at the old Legislature of KwaZulu-Natal in Ulundi.
He said those who take their clans to court over the throne bring the Zulu Nation into disrepute.
“I have been through the same route. Someone even claim to be the first born of my mother. He even went to court because he believe he is the rightful heir to the throne. I have not forgiven him about that and I still need him to come to me and explain why did he do that to me,” said King Misuzulu.
He said the worst part is that people fight for the throne while knowing they are not the rightful heirs.
King Misuzulu also called on traditional leaders to act with professionalism when working with the government to bring development to their communities.
He congratulated traditional leaders who received vehicles from the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) as tools of trade.
The King also spoke about his push to remove the word “Natal” from KZN’s name.
He reminded traditional leaders about the pain the Zulu nation suffered when colonisers first arrived in the country.
KZN Premier Thami Ntuli said giving traditional leaders vehicles was not meant to undermine them or to make them worship politicians or government leaders.
