- Olorato Mongale was last seen getting into a white Volkswagen Polo with a man police are now hunting.
- Her body was found inside a City of Johannesburg refuse bag, hours after she went missing from her home.
Olorato Mongale, a 30-year-old woman from Johannesburg, was found murdered in Lombardy West just hours after going on a date.
She went missing on Monday, 25 May, after leaving her Athol home at around 3pm. Her body was found less than two hours later, dumped in a black refuse bag.
National police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said Olorato was found by police and residents at 4.50pm. Her body had been stuffed into a City of Johannesburg rubbish bag and left on the side of the road.
Her phone and handbag were later found dumped on 9th Road in Kew.
Police are now searching for a man who calls himself “John”. He is believed to have used a fake name and was last seen driving a white Volkswagen Polo. The number plate on the car, LT 57 JG GP, was cloned from a Toyota Hilux.

Investigators believe John picked up Olorato from her complex and drove through Alexandra and Kew before dumping her body in Lombardy West.
Police suspect he may not have acted alone and could have been with another man at the time.
They are also looking into whether this murder is linked to another case. On 8 May, a 39-year-old woman was found dead in Sandown.
Just days ago, police arrested a 24-year-old man who lured a woman to Limpopo using a fake Facebook profile. He raped her several times before she was rescued at a filling station in Giyani. He has since appeared in court for rape and kidnapping.
Brigadier Mathe warned women to be careful when meeting new people, especially online. “Always let friends or family know where you are going. Avoid meeting strangers in private places,” she said.
