Keshav Maharaj, the Proteas spinner, said he is happy to buy Wiaan Mulder “anything he wants.”
Mulder’s impressive catch, which sent West Indies wicket-keeper Joshua Da Silva back to the stands, gave Maharaj a hat-trick of wickets.
This is something that hasn’t been achieved in 61 years, when Geoff Griffin did it for South Africa against England.
“Wherever he wants to eat or drink tonight, it’ll probably be on me,” said Maharaj.
The Proteas claimed their first series victory away from home in four years as they defeated the West Indies by 158 runs in the test on Monday. This was largely due to Maharaj who claimed five wickets to send the West Indies packing for 165. Giving the South Africans a 2-0 series win.
There will be plenty to celebrate for the Proteas, who looked impressive against opponents ranked higher than them before the series began. Individual players such as Elgar, De Kock and van der Dussen did good work with the bat while Maharaj and Mulder impressed with the ball at hand.
