Are Bloem’s streets the most trash-ridden in SA?
A woman took to Twitter on Wednesday to share her unbridled horror at the state of Bloemfontein’s CBD after visiting the city for the first time.
Accompanying four photos, all of which she seems to have taken on a single outing, she wrote:
“Today was my first time in Bloem. Are there any basic services available here? Because it’s a mess on almost every corner.”
Each of the photos is worse than the next and all show mountains of trash piled high on street corners.
In one, a rubbish skip is filled to the brim and overflowing with bags of trash, which are strewn all around it.
In others, piles of rubbish take up more space than people do on busy street corners.
The pictures are indeed shocking, but they got us thinking: are these really the worst streets in SA?
So we want to ask you, our readers, what is South Africa’s most trash-covered place?
Does downtown Joburg trump Bloem’s CBD? Is there a street in Durban which has more trash than pavement?
