How many different messages can one really fit in one voicemail?
Inkabi Records has managed to fit all of its five artists into one song, titled “Voicemail”.
“Voicemail” is a love song about a guy who is missing his lover, but whenever he tries to call, he finds himself talking to the automated voice of a white woman, who keeps telling him to leave a voicemail.
Left with no choice, Inkabi Records artists resort to “speaking with the voicemail” for 4:39 minutes.
The song features the record label owner Big Zulu, Mduduzi Ncube, Lwah Ndlunkulu, Siya Ntuli and Xowla, who is also the producer of the Top 8 charting single on YouTube. The “Voicemail” music video, which is bound to be as big a hit as the audio version, comes out on Friday, 15 July.
Released on 24 June, the audio version has collected over 350,000 views in just two weeks.
Inkabi Records is no stranger to releasing hits collectively as their last collaboration, a tribute to the late rapper Riky Rick titled “Lala Ngoxolo”, lived at the number one spot for a whole month after being released in February this year.
The recording label also received much praise on the media for releasing a hit tribute song in less than 48 hours, after Riky Rick had allegedly died by suicide on 23 February.
Meanwhile the new music still faces a steep climb on the music video charts as Master KG still “owns” that part of the music industry which is dancing to his beats.
Released on 7 July, Master KG & Lowsheen’s music video for “Sofa Silahlane” featuring Nkosazana Daughter sits at number one on YouTube’s top music charts.
The music video for “Dali Nguwe”, also by Master KG, featuring Nkosazana Daughter, Basetsana and Obeey Amor sits at number two on YouTube’s top music video charts with over 12 million views since March.
