In the 48 hours since Riky Rick’s death was confirmed by his family, the artist’s friend and musical collaborator, Big Zulu of Inkabi Records, has written and recorded a tribute song for his late “brother”.

The song begins with a voice clip of Riky Rick saying “If you never hear from me again I love you”, and is titled “A Tribute to our Friend & Brother (Lala Ngoxolo)”.

Big Zulu had worked with Riky Rick on his 2020 smash hit “Imali Eningi”. Now, he teams up with his studio signees Mduduzi Ncube and Siya Ntuli to produce an Afro-Pop single for the deceased hip hop giant.

Despite being one of the most feared rappers in South Africa because of his past in the taxi industry, Big Zulu broke down into tears during an Instagram live upon hearing the news of Riky Rick’s passing.

“I don’t understand how he did what he did, Riky was the father to the Industry,” cried Big Zulu.

“He was the one who healed wounds when we were hurting.”

The song has collected more than 100,000 views in less than 10 hours since it premiered on Inkabi Records’ YouTube account. And, in the absence of any details about the rapper’s funeral arrangements, fans at least have this moving tribute by which to remember Riky Rick.
