Amapiano DJ Melzi has denied rumours linking him to Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) commissioner Nomsa Masuku.
Masuku, a former Standard Bank employee and current IEC official, was arrested on 21 June and is facing charges of theft, fraud, and money laundering totaling R1.2-million.
The rumours began after DJ Melzi – real name Tumelo Mphai – posted a photo of himself with a Mercedes-Benz SUV, leading some social media users to falsely suggest he is Masuku’s son.
“Recent rumours and speculation about my relationship with Masuku are unfounded and untrue,” DJ Melzi posted.
“I would like to clarify that I have no affiliation or relationship with Masuku, and we are not involved in any way. My parents are private, and I appeal to all not to involve them on social media platforms.”
