Hendrick Monyeki set to begin the year in style with the release of new single

After the success of last year’s “Unmerited Favour”, Hendrick Monyeki is ready to bless his fans with another fusion of Jazz and Gospel this January.

The 37-year-old from New Eersterus in Hammanskraal told Scrolla.Africa that he is ready to release the first single from his upcoming EP, which is scheduled to be released at the end of the month.

“I am releasing a single titled ‘Siyakubonga’ on 14 January and on 28 January I will be releasing a full EP,” said Monyeki.

Like most of his previous offerings, the song “Siyakubonga” which means “We Thank You” in Zulu, takes you through a spiritual journey with Gospel instrumentals that have traces of Jazz melodies.

Monyeki, who has performed alongside iconic musicians like Sibongile Khumalo and Jonas Gwangwa to name a few, has brought along backing artists on “Siyabonga” to echo his message to the Lord.

“It’s been a great journey of 17 years since I’ve started professionally,” Monyeki had told Scrolla.Africa when he released the live concert music video of his Jazz single “Summertime” last year, which was recorded when he was paying tribute to “Jazz Legends” at the Springs Theatre in February 2021.

Meanwhile “Siyakubonga” will be available on all major music streaming platforms from 14 January.
