Amapiano star Killer Kau, whose real name is Sakhile Hlatshwayo, was laid to rest in a funeral service held at the Protea South Hall on Sunday.

Killer Kau passed away last week with five of his friends, including Mpura (real name Mongezi Stuurman) and DJ Tot  whose real name is Thando Sibisi.

Speaking at Killer Kau’s funeral, Sakhile’s aunt Lungile Hlatshwayo said it was Killer Kau’s dream to become a full time artist.

“When Sakhile was doing grade 12, he told me he wanted to pursue music as a career full-time,” she said.

“I advised him to complete his matric first, which he did. I still can’t believe that I’m standing here saying my final goodbyes to my son. You are our hero and you will forever be the hero even to the next generation.”

DJ Tot from Jabavu, Soweto was laid to rest on Saturday at the same cemetery, while Mpura will be buried on Tuesday.

Showstoppers and Retha were amongst the entertainers who performed at Killer Kau’s funeral.

Sakhile rose to fame in 2017 when a video of him performing “Tholukuthi” went viral.

He went on to produce hits such as “Lebanta”, “Kataliya” and “Amaneighbor”.

He was also nominated for the best amapiano collaboration at the SA Amapiano Awards in 2020.
