A gobela accused of rape who was arrested on Monday has already done time in jail for raping a girl, a boy, and a dog in the early 2000s.
On Monday, the sangoma from Alexandra, Johannesburg was arrested again and he remains in police custody accused of raping two of his twasas.
In the early hours of Sunday morning, angry community members attacked the indumba, destroying the building and everything in it.
Speaking from her son’s broken indumba, the accused’s mother said he was first convicted in 2000.
“He was sentenced after a lengthy three-year trial. He was released on parole after serving nine of his 15 years,” she said.
She said her son became a fully-qualified gobela who has been helping people of all ages with their calling.
“I’m shocked by this new development. We will have to let justice take its course,” she said.
The mother lambasted people who came on Friday and early on Sunday morning to break into her son’s indumba.
“They took everything including muthi. He has beautiful gifts from people he has helped. Now those are all gone,” said the 66-year-old mother.
Alexandra police spokesperson Sergeant Simphiwe Mbatha confirmed that a man was arrested for rape and remains in custody.
