Erling Haaland helped Manchester City to a 1-0 win over Brentford in Tuesday’s Premier League action.
Pep Guardiola’s side attacked from the first whistle to the last, but came up against a resilient opposition that were out to frustrate the champions.
Following their 4-1 home defeat to Liverpool, Brentford were a lot more compact and hard to break down on this occasion — with goalkeeper Mark Flekken making seven saves on the night.
But cometh the hour, cometh the man. It simply had to be Haaland, as he scored his 17th league goal of the campaign in 22 appearances.
The Norwegian, who looked frustrated at the weekend, would capitalise on his opportunity, firing home after a Julian Alvarez assist on the 71 minute mark.
Haaland’s goal means that he has now scored against all 21 sides he’s faced in the Premier League.
In the competition’s history, only him and Harry Kane (32/32) have played against more than two teams in the league and scored against all of them.
The Citizens may have had even more, but Brentford contained them in the final moments.
Late attempts to equalise would come and go for the Bees, as the hosts took all three points to go within one point of Liverpool who lead the way at the top of the pile.
The Reds are in action again on Wednesday when they host Luton Town at Anfield.
