The Gauteng High Court in Palm Ridge has convicted Sifiso Mkhwanazi for the murder of six sex workers in Johannesburg.
Judge Cassim Moosa found the 21-year-old guilty of multiple charges, including six counts each of murder, rape, and defeating the ends of justice, alongside illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The court, however, acquitted Mkhwanazi of robbery with aggravating circumstances, convicting him on a lesser charge of theft related to a victim’s cellphone.
Mkhwanazi, who committed the crimes at his father’s panel-beating shop between April and October 2022, confessed to the murders, saying the killings were a response to the victims demanding more money for their services.
Scrolla.Africa reporter Everson Luhanga broke the story on 10 October 2022.
