GOVERNMENT SLAMS PRETORIA NEWS

The Department of Health has hit back at the Pretoria News over its handling of the fake Tembisa 10 story.

After the story about the miracle birth crashed, the Pretoria News alleged a cover up by the government, and accused the police of arresting the alleged mother, Gosiame Sithole (above).

In an extraordinary press statement, the government said “the alleged ‘cover-up of mammoth proportions’ by health authorities seems to be a journalistic error. It cannot be that 10 or 8 babies are born and that no evidence of their whereabouts or existence can be established.”

The department said “we have taken these allegations made against government and healthcare professionals very seriously,” adding that “there is no record of delivery of the decuplets in any of the public and private health facilities in Gauteng.”

The government invited Independent Media “to assist Ms Sithole to pursue a complaint with the Health Ombudsman for the alleged mistreatment of the patient at any health facility”.
