It seems that Moja Love’s Umndeni reality TV show cast member Gogo Majabula is going through a rough patch.
He was fired from the show, his polygamous gay lover dumped him and now he has been arrested and had to spend a night in a cell for theft.
Gogo Majabula, whose real name is Alfie Mahlangabeza, spent Thursday night in jail for theft.
Mahlangabeza, who is a twice-married pastor, allegedly broke into his landlord’s storeroom in Protea Glen, Soweto and stole furniture and appliances.
According to the landlord, Andile Mbheke, Mahlangabeza stole eight blankets as well as a Defy stove.
Mbheke opened a case of theft against him at the Protea Glen police station.
“He begged me to rent out my house to him,” said the landlord.
He said he trusted Mahlangabeza as he was on TV and he thought his house would be in good hands.
“I want him to pay for everything he stole.”
Mbheke also said that Mahlangabeza also owes him R8,500 for two months’ rent.
“I came to collect my money after he failed to deposit money for April,” said Mbheke.
“As if that was not enough he never paid me for May.”
Mbheke added that he inspected the storeroom and found that Mahlangabeza had stolen from him.
“The neighbours told me he is the one who broke into my storeroom and sold my things. He’s a crook and a criminal. Jail is where he belongs.”
Mahlangabeza confirmed being arrested but denied breaking in and stealing from the storeroom.
“Thugs broke into the house and stole his things. People are lying, they are jealous of me,” he said.
NPA South Gauteng spokesperson Phindile Mjonondwane said: “The docket was brought to us but we declined to prosecute due to insufficient evidence.”
