Social butterflies and multi-award winning musicians attended the funeral of Queen of Kwaito Nomasonto Maswanganyi.
As it should be for Mshoza who conquered with top radio hits, fashion, love scandals and even skin bleaching.
The star’s funeral was held in Johannesburg on Saturday.
She died earlier this week after battling diabetes. Coordinating the funeral processions was the people’s poet and former Deacon of the Apostolic Faith Mission Church, Mzwakhe Mbuli.
Mshoza’s childhood friend, Khanyi Mbau, said she never thought she would bury her good friend.
“Never did I imagine that a day would come where Sonto and I would have to bury each other. We had made big plans for one another.
“We had big ideas but as they say, we always plan and God laughs.”
Mshoza’s children made many in the audience cry when they took to the stage to pay their final tributes.
The children described their mother as their best friend.
“Mommy I am at a loss of words, I wasn’t ready to lose you. I don’t know how I am going to make it without you,” said Mshoza’s daughter.
The Kortes hitmaker was laid to rest at the Westpark Cemetery with a tombstone showing off the glamorous kwaito queen.
